January, 13 – At the event today in Thawang, Rolpa, Ukaid Sakchyam and Mahila Sahayatra Microfinance Bittiya Sanstha have launched a partnership to further their common objectives to improve the marginalized communities’ access to financial products and services in the Rukum, Rolpa, Salyan and Surkhet districts of Nepal. As a part of this partnership, Mahila Sahayatra launched its branch in Thawang, Rolpa today and the event was jointly inaugurated by Mr. Baljit Vohra, Team Leader of Sakchyam Access to Finance Programme and Ms. Sumitra Manandhar Gurung, CEO of Mahila Sahayatra Microfinance Bittiya Sanstha.
The partnership will further launch its project “Specially –designed Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) loan products for Deprived Women” and establish additional 4 new branches of Mahila Sahayatra to serve marginalized communities in 25 VDCs in the mentioned districts.
Speaking at the event, Mr. Baljit Vohra, Team Leader, UKaid Sakchyam said, “As we know that progress and development in Nepal is inseparably tied to empowering its most rural poor communities and specially women communities and bringing them into the financial mainstream. Mahila Sahayatra has been playing a crucial role for such deprived women communities and we are excited to partner with such a dynamic team in bringing about transformative change “
