Three-Day Awareness Programme on Concessional Loan for Earthquake 2015 Victims In DhadingJuly 22, 2019
Kathmandu: After Gorkha, UKaid Sakchyam Access to Finance organized a three-day awareness programme on Concessional Loan for Earthquake 2015 affected beneficiaries in Dhading. The programme was held on Ashad 31, Shrawan 1 and 2 at Jwalamukhi Rural Municipality, Nilkantha Urban Municipality and Dhunibeshi Urban Municipality, respectively. The events focused on the provision for the concessional loan for beneficiaries who have taken the first tranche of government grant but have not been able to get the second tranche.
The event brought together various stakeholders in the reconstruction process of the houses destroyed in the earthquake — from MP from Dhading Khem Prasad Lohani to the Project Chief of GMaLI Dhading, Jaya Ram Shrestha; Chairperson, District Coordination Committee Jaganath Nepal; Mayors/Deputy Mayors, presidents of different wards in the respective municipalities and branch managers of various banks in the areas were present. The programme provided a platform for the beneficiaries to present their issues and queries to the authority concerned.
From Kathmandu, National Reconstruction Authority’s Section Chief of Foreign Aid Co-ordination Section, Dibya Raj Pokhrel and Banking Coordination Specialist Namita Poudel took part in all three events. They gave a presentation informing the participants about the different government mandates regarding the reconstruction process including the list of banks and financial institutions involved in the distribution of grant and the list of beneficiaries in the municipalities where the events took place. They even addressed the different queries put forth by beneficiaries and ward presidents at the events.
Sakchyam launched a brochure explaining the various aspects of the Concessional Loan including the process and the list of the different documents the beneficiaries need to get the loan. The brochures were also distributed to the participants of the events. Bibhu Prasad Aryal, Lead of Housing Reconstruction Component, Sakchyam Access to Finance Programme also highlighted the importance of the Concessional Loan and Financial Literacy in the effective implementation of the loan.
