Sakchyam is a UKaid-funded Access to Finance initiative. It is implemented for DFID Nepal by Louis Berger, in partnership with local and international partner institutions. The establishment of this branch is a part of the Sakchyam Earthquake Response Programme under which Sakchyam has partnered with seven commercial banks. The programme involves the launch of 173 Point of Sale (POS) machine-based Branch Less Banking (BLB) touch points across the 14 districts most affected by the Gorkha Earthquake of April 25, 2015. The branch office will subsequently provide support to the BLB touchpoints to be opened in the remote parts of Rasuwa and will provide banking services to the earthquake affected communities.
UKaid Sakchyam has been supporting the Banks and Financial Institutions in its objective of taking financial services to communities that need it the most. Sakchyam is also playing a crucial role in supporting Government of Nepal’s objective to expand financial inclusion through alternative delivery channels such as Branchless Banking (BLB) touch points for G2P Payments. Such innovations will help include more people from this region into the larger financial system.
With the inauguration of the Timure branch, Sanima bank has been able to extend its service from Mechi to Mahakali with total 45 full-fledged branches and 50 ATM networks.
