Sakchyam Training for Branchless Banking Agents

July 5, 2016

Sakchyam’s Financial Literacy Component led a training program for Rastriya Banijya Bank‘s Branchless Banking agents in Gorkha on July 2, 2016. Altogether UKaid Sakchyam has committed support for the establishment of 44 Branchless Banking touch points with Rastriya Banijya Bank in remote earthquake-affected locations of Dhading, Dolakha, Gorkha, Kavre, Makwanpur, Nuwakot, Okhaldhunga, Ramechhap, Rasuwa and Sindhuli districts.

The establishment of these Branchless Banking touch points is a part of Sakchyam’s larger branchless banking initiative that has committed support for 453 BLB touch points in the mid and far-western regions as well as in the earthquake affected districts of Nepal. The introduction of this alternative delivery channel is allowing rural poor communities in Nepal’s countryside better access to timely monies and other financial services.
