December 1, 2016 – Prabhu Bank Limited has opened its branch, at Kamalbazaar municipality of Achham district with the support of Ukaid Sakchyam -Access to finance Programme. The branch was inaugurated by Mr. Bishrut Thapa, Regional Manager of Nepal Rastra Bank, Dhangadi Branch. UKaid Sakchyam is partnering with Prabhu Bank to improve the reach of financial services for deprived communities through new physical branches as well as branchless banking touch points (BLB).
Speaking at the inauguration event of the branch opening, Mr. Bishrut Thapa, Regional Manager; Dhangadi, Nepal Rastra Bank said “NRB has financial inclusion as its key objective and has worked closely with UKaid Sakchyam to support many of its innovative programmes and initiatives. I will continue to support the progress of this programme in my capacity at the NRB.”
UKaid Sakchyam has been supporting the Banks and Financial Institutions in its objective of facilitating financial services to communities that need it the most. Establishment of physical branches and Branchless Banking touchpoints will also support Government of Nepal’s initiatives to route G2P payments through bank accounts and “Bank Account for All citizen”.
Sakchyam is a UK Aid-funded Access to Finance Programme. It is implemented for DFID Nepal by Louis Berger, in partnership with local and international partner institutions.
