Mr. Baljit Vohra, Team Leader and Mr. Nirmal Dahal, Deputy Team Leader of UKaid Sakchyam Access to Finance Programme participated in the first FSD Network Conference which was held in Livingstone Zambia on 14th – 15th November, 2017. The main objective of the conference was to contribute to the debate on how Financial Sector Deepening (FSD) Programmes are changing the landscape of financial sector development in Africa, and the trends and challenges they must constantly be aware of and overcome to ensure inclusive economic growth.
The conference brought together members of the FSD Network from across 10 countries, and it was an opportunity for the FSD network to look back at their financial inclusion journey and share the lessons learned from implementing their programmes using the market facilitation (M4P) approach. The conference also highlighted the emerging trends in the financial inclusion space across Africa, discuss operational challenges faced across the network and fully explore the potential of the network.
Sakchyam was the only DFID funded programme from Asia at the event and was provided an opportunity to share about its work towards strengthening the financial sector landscape in Nepa. Sakchyam made presentations and provided insights on 1. Payment Systems Modernisation in Nepal 2. Using 3rd Party Remittance Company Model to Usher in MFS in Nepal 3. Financial Inclusion Around the World: Insights from Asia.
