Internship Opportunities

Sakchyam Access to Finance Programme will offer internship opportunities to eligible Nepali students whether studying locally or abroad to support one or more of the Programme’s outputs and components. Preference will be given to applicants with a major in one of the following fields of study: finance, business management and administration, economics, women, gender and sexuality studies. The final selection will be based on the requirement for each internship to be announced by the Programme on a case by case basis. A conveyance allowance as per company policy will be paid.

Internship with Sakchyam requires a commitment of 20-40 hours per week for 6-12 weeks, with a possible extension as per Programme need. The successful candidate (the intern) will work with Sakchyam Staff on one or more of the following programme areas: SME Finance, Financial Inclusion, Financial Literacy, Gender Equality and Social Inclusion, ICT and Mobile-based technology solutions, Legal and Regulatory, and Monitoring & Evaluation. The candidate will be based at the Sakchyam office in Kathmandu with possible travel to its regional offices in Nepal. Costs of travel, lodging and meals during trips to other regions will be paid by the Programme as per the rates and costs approved for similar trips of local employees of Sakchyam.

Applicants are required to respond to a call for interns displayed on Sakchyam’s website or other means of notification by submitting a cover letter specifying area of interest or specific qualifications for a particular programme area. The cover letter must also specify the time period during which the applicant seeks to intern with Sakchyam. The following documents are required for all internship applications:

  1. Cover Letter – indicating top two areas of interest in Sakchyam Programme and the functional areas listed above
  2. An Up to date Resume
  3. A Writing Sample of approximately 2 pages
  4. Most recent College or University mark sheet/grades
  5. Phone and email contact information for 1-2 references, including a professor or other individuals familiar with the applicant’s work
  6. A copy of the candidate’s Citizenship Certificate
