Legal and Regulatory Interventions
The Sakchyam Access to Finance for the Poor Programme is being implemented with a wide range of interventions and support initiatives. One of them is the ongoing legal and regulatory review and reform agenda, especially in the areas of banking, cooperatives, micro finance, SME financing, credit guarantee schemes, technology development in financial services and development of an efficient payment system. The project is working closely with stakeholders, and where appropriate initiating legal and regulatory reform agenda through the project’s Steering Committee. The project is also facilitating dialogues and complementing the works of the implementing partners, supporting and regulating agencies with an independent approach while continuing to work towards an enhanced access to finance for the poor in project areas and beyond.
