The essence of sustainable development is inclusiveness; this makes Gender Equality and Social Inclusion (GESI) a core component of the Sakchyam Programme. The Programme’s GESI approach is to encourage and enable partners to reach women, rural poor, DAGs and youth in an effective and efficient way. For this, the Programme’s prime focus is GESI mainstreaming. The benefits of GESI mainstreaming in financial sectors include: successful programmes, budget efficiency, support toward ending discrimination, improved socio-economic development and ultimately contributing to poverty alleviation.
The Sakchyam Access to Finance Programme seeks ways to identify the GESI gaps, both at institutional and beneficiary levels, and addresses the gaps and meets the intended needs of target groups. The Programme’s GESI focus is to assist and build the capacity of financial service providers to meet the financing needs of women, rural poor, DAGs and youth by designing financial products and services catered specifically to these needs.
