December 2, 2016 – At an event organized here today in Rukumkot VDC of Rukum district, Prabhu Bank opened its Sakchyam-supported branch office. The branch was inaugurated by Mr. Ganeshman Pun – Member of Legislative Parliament, Nepal. UKaid Sakchyam is partnering with Prabhu Bank to improve the reach of financial services for deprived communities through new physical branches as well as branchless banking touch points (BLB).
UKaid Sakchyam has been supporting the Banks and Financial Institutions in its objective of facilitating financial services to communities that need it the most. Establishment of physical branches and Branchless Banking touchpoints will also support Government of Nepal’s initiatives to route G2P payments through bank accounts and “Bank Account for All citizen”.
Speaking at the inauguration event of the branch opening, Mr. Mani Ram Pokharel, Chief Maekting Officer, Prabhu Bank said “Prabhu Bank has always believed in taking financial services to the reach of all Nepalese. We are glad to be partnering with Sakchyam to introduce more branches and our services in rural populations of Nepal”
Present at the event were senior members of Prabhu Bank, Sakchyam programme team, local authorities along with the representatives of national as well as local dailies.
Sakchyam is a UK Aid-funded Access to Finance Programme. It is implemented for DFID Nepal by Louis Berger, in partnership with local and international partner institutions.
