Nepal Women Community Service Centre (NWCSC) has established two new branches in Jhumrik, Machhi Bazar, Pyuthan and Dangisaran, Shreegaun, Dang on April 27 and 28. NWCSC aims to serve around 5000 customers from these two branches.
These Sakchyam-supported branches will target women and marginalised groups and provide various savings, credit, remittance and insurance products to its clients. “NWCSC will also focus on conducting financial literacy campaigns which will help customers make informed financial decisions,” shared Mrs. Bimala Yogi, Chairperson of NWCSC during the launch events. She also informed that the Jhumrik and Dangisaran branches will focus on disseminating messages on financial services through the use of Interactive Voice Response (IVR) technology. NWCSC will also introduce tablet banking through these newly established branches.
UKaid Sakchyam’s support to NWCSC aims to improve access to financial services in remote areas of Dang, Rolpa, Rukum, Salyan and Pyuthan. This partnership, which was initiated in July 2015, aims to reach more than 8000 beneficiaries by 2018, out of which 6236 beneficiaries have already been served.
In both the openings, representatives from UKaid Sakchyam – Access to Finance Programme, NWCSC, various government agencies, community groups, political parties and media were present.
