Kisan Microfinance (KMF) has opened a new branch in Santada Khalbazar, Achham on 29th April under its “Sakchyam Kisan Access to Microfinance Project”. This is the first branch establishment under the second partnership project between KMF and UKaid Sakchyam – Access to Finance Programme.
The project aims to provide financial services to more than 10,000 members by 2019. Through the project, KMF will introduce mobile technology as part of its core banking system to extend services to remote regions in the Mid- and Far-Western Development Regions (Bajhang, Humla, Mugu, Jumla, Jajarkot, Baitadi, Darchula and Achham districts) of Nepal. The project is also provide financial services (loan, saving, insurance and remittance), tablet banking service, digital financial literacy, agro-vet consultancy services and skills-based training to its beneficiaries.
The Santada Branch in the long term is expected to improve livelihoods, increase incomes, and reduce poverty in the eight villages it covers – Kalika, Santada, Darna, Malatikot, Patekhet, Muzabagar, Batulasain, and Sutar.
